 Many of the rivers in County Wicklow abound in small brown trout the principal stretches being the Rivers Aughrim, Avonmore, Avonbeg, Dangle, Liffey (below Golden Falls Lake), Slaney (below Baltinglass), Vartry Reservoir at Roundwood and the Poulaphouca Lakes. The latter is also good for coarse fishing. Sea trout can be had in the lower reaches of the Dangle, the Potters River (night fishing) and the Ennereilly River.  With its golden stretches of sandy beaches, County Wicklow is ideal for swimming and sun-bathing. Wicklow town has a sand-shingle beach extending several miles north of the town.
